Dragon Ball Z is the continuation of the original Dragon Ball series. It was introduced a few years after the last Dragon Ball episode, but Dragon Ball Z has a different plot. Dragon ball Z is geared toward more mature kids through it's battles and plot while the original Dragon Ball was geared more to little kids. The Dragon Ball Z series is divided into four sagas. In each saga, the Z warriors fight the same villain over and over. The first saga is the Vegeta Saga.
Goku now has a son named Gohan. Goku learns of his origins through his brother, Raditz, who lands on earth looking for him. He learns his race is the Saiyan and that he was sent to earth to wipe out the inhabitants. Raditz tries to persuade Goku to join him in conquering the universe but Goku resists. Raditz kidnaps Gohan to persuade Goku into helping him. Goku teams up with Piccolo. They have a hard time but they manage to kill Raditz. They find out that Gohan has hidden powers. But when Piccolo shot at Raditz, Goku was holding him from behind so Goku was killed as well. Piccolo tells Raditz that Goku can still be brought back to life using the dragonballs. Raditz informs his comrades using his scouter. His two comrades, Nappa and Vegeta, are supposed to be super powerful Saiyans.
When Kame learns about this he decides to train the Z warriors. Krillin, Yamcha, Tien, and Chaozu all go to Corin tower to train. Goku, instead of just giving up, decides to train with the legendary King Kai (Kaio-sama). He has to run on Snake Way and make it to King Kai's planet before the Saiyans come in one year. Piccolo takes Gohan to train him in the some succluded forest. He leaves Gohan to survive in in the wild by himself. He learns of Gohan's ability to transform into a huge were-monkey with awesome power during a full moon.
Finally, Nappa and Vegeta arrive, the Z warriors including Piccolo and Gohan are ready to face them. However, they are still no match for them without Goku. In the fight before Goku arrives Yamcha, Chaozu, Tenshinhan and Piccolo are killed. Once Goku arrives, he easily defeats the once thought invincible Nappa. Instead of helping Nappa, Vegeta sends him to another demension. Goku continues to fight Vegeta while Krillin and Gohan go home. Vegeta is strong but Goku has the upper hand with his new Kaioken technique. Vegeta tries his Galick Gun on Goku but with the increased energy from the Kaioken technique, his Kamehameha is more powerful. However, it doesn't kill Vegeta.
An angry Vegeta then makes an energy ball that simulates the light of the moon. He then turns into the were monkey. Goku gets thrown around. His body was already weak from using the Kaioken technique. Gohan and Krillin come back to help Goku. They also get kicked around. Finally Yajirobe cuts off Vegeta's tail. Goku gives Krillin some energy left over from his failed Genki Dama. Krillin uses it on Vegeta but it doesn't kill him. Gohan who grew back his tail turns into the were monkey and fights Vegeta. Vegeta manages to cut off Gohan's tail. Gohan changes back into a kid again. Vegeta, exhausted and beaten, tries to crawl into his space ship and leave Earth, but Krillin stops him. Goku requests that Krillin spare Vegeta. He does, Vegeta then exits.
After the death of Raditz, Vegeta learns of the dragonballs from the message Raditz's scouter. Later, he figured out that Namek Dragonballs also existed. After getting beaten by Goku, Vegeta retreats to his headquarters to recover. Now, he carries on the new goal of gathering the dragonballs of Namek for himself to be granted the wish of immortality. He also plans to kill Frieza. Frieza is also in search of the Namek dragonballs to become immortal and begins to terrorize Namek for the dragonballs. Meanwhile, Bulma learns about the Namek dragonballs from Mr. Popo, Kame's assistant. With the hope to gather the dragonballs to wish their friends killed in the Vegeta Series back to life, Gohan, Krillin, and Bulma venture off to Namek on the spaceship that Kame used to travel to Earth years ago. Great battles on Piccolo's home planet are to take place...
Gohan, Krillin, and Bulma learn that Vegeta is also on Vegeta and also learn about Frieza. Goku is informed of this and recovers from the battle against Vegeta by eating a senzu bean from Yajirobe. Using Nappa's space pod after it was enhanced by Dr. Briefs, Bulma's father, Goku travels to Namek. At the same time, the deceased Yamcha, Tien, Chaozu, and Piccolo are training with King Kai. Meanwhile, Vegeta begins his fight against Frieza. With strategic actions, Vegeta kills Dodoria and Zarbon, Frieza's right hand men, and steals the captured dragonballs from Frieza. However, Vegeta learned from Cui that the Saiyan planet was not destroyed by a meteor as stated, but by Frieza. Ambitions to kill Frieza are strengthened. Frieza learns of Vegeta's betrayal and calls forth the Ginyu Force. Team Ginyu, consisting of five members, have a reputation as being powerful warriors of destruction.
Goku finally lands on Namek. The Z warriors now have a new enemy, one who must be defeated for the safety of the entire galaxy. Everyone plans to defeat Frieza, but Frieza is too strong. Realizing that he himself cannot defeat Frieza, Vegeta joins the Z warriors, but boasts that it is only to insure that Goku survives the battle so that he could kill him personally. (However, Vegeta ends up marrying Bulma, and Bulma gets pregnant with a son that would become known as Trunks.) Team Ginyu is killed by the combined forces of Goku and Vegeta (except for Ginyu, who turned into a frog when he tried to swap bodies with Vegeta and Goku threw a frog in his path). Then, follows the fights against Frieza himself. To everyone's surprise, Frieza has the ability to transform into a stronger being. With each pysical transformation, Frieza's power increases. Krillin is killed at the hands of Frieza. Goku is so enraged by the death of his best friend, he reaches Super Saiyan level. The tides of battle now turn to Goku. With a single energy blast, Frieza tries to destroy Namek. Frieza learns the true powers behind a Super Saiyan.
The Z warriors are back on Earth. The dead Z warriors are granted back to life. Everyone thinks that Goku was killed in battle, but Goku really escaped to planet Yargrat, where he learned how to teleport. Cold, Frieza's father, learns about Frieza's defeat and quickly gathers what's left of Frieza, who is floating around in space. His henchmen then recreate Frieza. (This is why Frieza was half robotic.) Frieza tells his father about Goku and his powers, but his father doesn't believe him. Cold continues to boast that he is the universe's strongest warrior and best space conquerer, and can never be defeated.
The villains land on Earth to seek revenge for Frieza's defeat. The Earth becomes endangered once again. All of a sudden, a figure appears out of nowhere. It is the 18 year old Trunks, but no one knows who he is or where he came from. He turns into his Super Saiyan level and aids the Z Warriors in their battle. Trunks single-handed kills Frieza and Cold. Trunks tells the Z warriors that Goku is on his way and will appear in a matter of minutes. Everyone doubts whether or not to believe this stranger. In a few minutes, Goku really teleports back to Earth and meets Trunks. Trunks bring Goku over and talks to him in secrecy so not to prevent his own birth. This kid introduces himself to Goku as Bulma and Vegeta's son. He grew up and traveled back in time to prevent his chaotic future. Trunks tells Goku about the evil androids and exactly where they would show up in three years. He carries heart attack medicine for Goku. Piccolo states that he could hear them and that his ears aren't just to frame his face. Vegeta and Bulma have Trunks. Three years later the androids arrive.
After years of anguish from a defeat that took place decades ago(in DragonBall), Dr. Gero continues to plot revenge against the character who destroyed the Red Ribbon Army and ruined him, Goku. Android #19 is the first introduced of a series of creations to destroy Goku. Along with the scheme, Dr. Gero requests Android #19 to make the doctor also into a cyborg so that he would become stronger, and this bears witness of the transformation of Dr. Gero to Android #20. The Z Warriors meet with Androids #19 and #20 and the two sides engage in battle. Goku leaves the battle because of his heart condition while Vegeta faces Android #19. The android is destroyed. Despite the grave defeat, Dr. Gero decides to unveil his other creations, Androids #17 and #18.
#17 and #18 get annoyed of Dr. Gero. As a result, Android #17 kills him. Android #18 then unleashes Android #16. But as it turns out, Android #16 is a peaceful android. (This can be shown through his love towards the wild animals.) His only flaw is that he is programed to destroy Goku and only Goku. As time passes, the Z Warriors become aware of the new androids as they battle again and again but always reach a stalemate. However, the Z Warriors are still no match for the androids. Goku after being taken home is saved by the medicine Trunks gave him. Meanwhile, Piccolo fuses with Kame, to become stronger. Later on Dende replaces Kami as guardian of the dragonballs.
Androids #16, #17, and #18 go to seek Goku to destroy him. Piccolo finds the androids first and begins to fight them. In the future of Dr. Gero's lab, Cell has finished developing and breaks out of the giant "test tube", promising to fulfill his creator's wish. In the future he kills Trunks and steals his time machine. Cell must change into his larval stage to fit in the time capsule. When Cell reaches his destination, it takes him 3 years to "evolve" back to his regular form. Cell's mission is to become perect and to do this he must absorb Androids #17 and #18.
Meanwhile, Vegeta, Goku, Gohan, and Trunks all go to train in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. They have to go in pairs. Each "team" gets a year of training in one day. Vegeta and Trunks go first. Cell starts terrorizing the inhabitants of Earth. Piccolo holds off Cell with his new powerlevel but this is not enough to defeat him.
Cell flies to find Androids #17 and #18. On his way absorbs the energy of the unlucky civilians he passes to become stronger. Finally, he meets with the other androids. To our heroes' surprise, they learn that Androids #17 and #18 know nothing about Cell. Cell and Android #17 threaten to kill each other. Android #17 heads out to fight him. But, he does not stand up to Cell and is easily defeated. This is when our heroes learn the great powers of Cell. Android #18 is now worried, but Android #16 flies out to fight Cell. To everybody's amazement, Android #16 is able to stand up to Cell. However, he is still destroyed. Cell now heads for his goal and absorbs Android #17 with his tail. Cell now changes into his second form. With the power of Android #17 combined to his, he becomes stronger than ever. Vegeta and Trunks now arrive at the battle scene. Vegeta could easily destroy Cell but doesn't because he wants Cell to transform so he could have a challenge. Then, he heads over to absorb Android #18. Android #18 tries to escape, but she is still eventually absorbed. Trunks tries his hardest to stop Cell during the transformation, he fails. Cell now changes and becomes "Perfect Cell", he is no longer an android, he has now become organic.
Vegeta tried his hardest but it was futile. Trunks unleashes his true power since his father was unconcious. Trunks now goes Ultimate Super Saiyan or USSJ. This form isn't very good. The strength is emensly increased but the bulky muscles slow him down and he is less likely to hit his target. Trunks is eventually defeated.
Cell then makes a proposal. He states that he is starting up the World's Martial Arts Ternament again. It was destroyed long ago in the battl between Goku and Piccolo. Cell gives everyone 10 days to get ready. Bulma collects the body parts of Android #16 and repairs him. Android 16 is reprogrammed to fight on the Z Warriors' side. Goku and Gohan now take there turn in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. Gohan reaches Super Saiyan level and Goku descovers the secret to good training. They stay in Super Saiyan Form and become alot stronger, it's really quite ingeneous. Once Goku and Gohan exit the Chamber the other heroes make a plan. They are each to go in the Chamber and train for a day per pair. Goku says he would rather train in the regular world. Everyone is surprised. Goku then visits Corin and asks him where he stands against Cell. Corin tells him Cell is stronger. Goku doesn't seem worried. He then states that he and Gohan will rest for 3 days, train for 3 days then rest for the remaining 3.
Now our heroes head out to face Cell. First, Android #16 is once again destroyed. Cell grows strong enough and reproduces. From his body come 7 Cell Juniors, miniature blue duplicates of Cell. With the death of Android 16, an enraged teenage Gohan powers up and reaches Super Saiyan level 2. Gohan then destroys all the Cell Juniors and fights Cell. In a following battle, Cell is kicked and Android #18 is spit back out. (She is unconscious.) Cell turns back into form 2 and is defeated. But, he activates his self destruction mode so that when he dies, the world will blow up with him. To save the Earth, Goku teleports Cell out of Earth and into King Kai's planet, where Cell blows up. Thus, Goku, King Kai, Bubbles, and Gregory die as well.
The Z Warriors mourn the loss of Goku, but cheer at the victory over Cell at the same time. A fireball flies out of nowhere and pierces through Trunks. Upon Trunks' death, Cell, in form 3, appears. He tells that when he blew up, a brain cell survived. From the cell, other cells multiplied and he was once again formed. Cell happily laughs as he tells that he is amazed he is able to rebuild himself into form 3! Then, Cell threatens to destroy the earth. Now it is up to Gohan to try to save our planet. With one arm (the other injured when he went to let a fireball meant for Vegeta hit him), Gohan prepares a fireball. He fires at Cell and Cell fires back. A stalemate is meant, but with King Kai's help, Goku is able to talk to Gohan and encourages him. Meanwhile, Krillin protects the unconscious Android #18 and Yamcha, Tein, and Vegeta attack Cell in hope that this will Gohan distract Cell. With the help of the now dead King Kai, Goku, also dead, is able to communicate with Gohan and encourages him to use all his power to defeat Cell. Gohan overpowers Cell and Cell is disintegrated by Gohan's fireball. (But, Satan takes credit for Cell's death because of his lies to the reporters.)
At the end, the warriors gather the dragonballs to bring those killed by Cell back to life. However, Goku is still dead because he was already brought back to life once and cannot come back again, but tells that he is okay and is now with King Kai. Android #18 awakens and flees. However, everybody learns here that Krillin has develped a crush on Android #18! At the end of this series, there is a short memorial about the life of Goku.
The Majin Boo saga is a continuation of the Dragon Ball Z series after the Cell saga. This time Gohan is a highschool student, Trunks is a little kid and Gohan has a new little brother, Goten. Goten & Trunks can already turn Super Saiyan even though they're so young. Krillin married Android #18 and they have a daughter. Goku is still dead but now he's training there. He enters a tournament on one of the four Kaio's planet. Goku ties with his worthy opponent. On earth Gohan is training Goten, and Vegeta is training Trunks. They're training for a martial arts tournament. Goku is granted one day on earth. He comes back to fight in the tournament as well. Trunks and Goten can't compete in the adult division so they just fight in the children's division. Of course it comes down to the two of them. It was a close fight but Trunks wins. Afterwards they still want to fight. So they knock out one of the competitors and use his clothes. As the tournament goes on, Gohan, in his Great Saiyaman outfit takes his turn to fight. When Gohan turns Super Saiyan his costume is blown off revealing his true identity. Everyone is amazed that a nerd like Gohan is the Great Saiyaman. All of a sudden, two fighters with "M"s on their foreheads absorbs Gohan's energy to revive Boo. Kaioshin, the so called king of the universe who is trying to prevent Babidi's plot to revive Boo, allows this to happen in order to learn of their hide out. Vegeta, Krillin, Piccolo, and Goku decide to go as well. When they get there a battle insues that leaves Krillin and Piccolo turned to stone by Dabura. When Gohan fights Dabura, Dabura sees the evil in Vegeta. So Dabura stops the fight. As the Warriors rest, Babidi casts a spell on Vegeta to control his body. Babidi then teleports them back to the Martial Arts Tournament. There Vegeta shows off his evil side by killing lots of people in order to pursuade Goku to fight him. Finally Goku agrees but not in a populated area. So, Babidi teleports them somewhere else to fight. As Goku and Vegeta fight, Gohan and Kaioshin go into Babidi's space ship to try to stop him. Meanwhile Goku has a hard time with Vegeta. He learns that Vegeta let Babidi control him on purpose to gain enough power to defeat Goku. Their fight causes Boo to reessurect. When Boo revives he doesn't look so tough but just the opposite. He is, however, very powerful. Even Gohan was no match for Boo. When Goku and Vegeta sense that Boo awoke they stop fighting. Goku tells Vegeta that they can beat Boo only if they work together. Vegeta double crosses Goku by knocking him out and taking a senzu. He flies over to where Boo is to destroy what he set free. As Vegeta fights Boo. Before Vegeta arrived Goten and Trunks were there already watching a battle in progress. Dabura, who was earlier knocked out by Boo, came back to fight. Boo of course just turned him into food and ate him. The kids were amazed, then suddenly Krillin turned back to normal. He filled in the kids on what happened to them. Then Trunks remembers that he knocked down Piccolo's statue before but to his surprise Piccolo regenerated and was fully intact. As they are talking, Vegeta finally arrives and blows up Babidi's space ship. Babidi gets mad and sends Boo after Vegeta. Eventhough Vegeta is powered up, he is still no match for the superior strength of Boo. As a last resort he sacrifices himself by self-destructing. This was the first time that he wasn't fighting for himself. When Piccolo came back to check around, he notices that Boo's pieces start to move. They eventually combine again to form Boo. Piccolo flies away with Krillin to Karin tower. This starts Boo's reign of terror. Babidi instructs Boo to kill everyone in each city until Piccolo, Trunks, and Goten show themselves to him. Then Goku finally regains consciousness. He teleports to the tower and is told the bad news by Piccolo. They also believe that Gohan is dead, but he's just weakened and unconscious. As this happens they think to themselves that they can bring back everyone who was killed using the Dragon Balls. However, Bulma already used up one of the wishes so the Dragon Balls would be useless for 4 months. Goku's last plan is to teach Goten and Trunks fusion. He believes that this will beat Boo. Goten and Trunks, however, think that Goku is weak because he was knocked out by Vegeta. Suddenly, Babidi threatens to destroy Trunks' home and the Dragon Radar that's inside. Goku tells Trunks to go get it while he distracts Boo. Goku tells Boo about Goten and Trunks and how he has to wait only two days for a good fight. Boo seems intrigued but Babidi orders him to fight Goku. Goku knowing he has to stall some time for Trunks shows them something. He starts by turning Super Saiyan 1, then Super Saiyan 2, and then Super Saiyan 3. The others are amazed that Goku has this much power. Trunks in particular is stunned. As Trunks tries to find the Dragon Radar, Goku keeps fighting Boo. However, he can only stay in Super Saiyan 3 for a few minutes or else he would use up all his time on earth. Then, finally, Trunks finds the Radar and heads back to the tower. Goku ends the battle and goes back also. Babidi yells at Boo for letting Goku get away. Boo is annoyed by this so he kills Babidi. He then begins his rampage again. Goku gets back and starts the boys training again. They tell Goku that they want to see Super Saiyan 3. So, Goku turns 3 for a few seconds. In doing so he uses his last minutes on earth and has to go back to the afterlife. While all this was happening, Kibit, who was earlier revived by the Dragon Balls, helps up Kaioshin and Gohan. Kaioshin takes Gohan to Kaioshinkai. A sacred planet for the Kaioshins. There he tells Gohan of the Zed Sword. Gohan then attempts to pull it out and succeeds to kibit's amazement. He then starts training with the Zed Sword, which is quite heavy. Goku asks Daio-sama if Gohan went through there. Daio says that Gohan never went through so he's still alive. Goku then looks for Gohan's ki and teleports to Kaioshinkai. There he finds Gohan training and tells him what happened. As this was happening more and more people were being killed by Boo and Piccolo was make some progress with the kids training. Mr. Satan the so called world champion goes to Boo's house to try to beat him as well. He ends up however making friends with Boo and turning Boo to a good guy. Boo, however, let off some steam when some guys with guns killed his pet dog. The steam turned into another Boo. They fought for awhile and it ended up in the smoke Boo eating the Fat Boo. This transformed Boo into a more powerful, more built for fighting Boo. Meanwhile, as Gohan was testing out the edge of the Zed Sword, it broke. This caused a 15th generation Kaioshin to be freed. He promised to help Gohan powerup. On earth, Boo found the Tower by following the Ki of the fighters. Goten and Trunks had done fusion only twice before but they were not ready. Piccolo stalled Boo long enough for the kids to train. When Boo finally got to where the kids were they spent no time in fighting. Their attacks, however, were nothing to Boo. Then Gotenks(Goten + Trunks) turned Super Saiyan. This gave them more power but not enough to beat Boo. Piccolo, thinking that Gotenks had no more power, destroyed the entrance. Gotenks then revealed that he was just joking. Boo had his own problems. He couldn't imagine himself without candy forever. He started getting angry and screamed. His voice tore a hole between dimensions so he was able to get out. Now that he's out he turned everyone on the tower to chocolate and ate them. Gotenks and Piccolo were thinking when Gotenks had a plan. He turned Super Saiyan 3 and blew a portal of his own. Once out they saw what Boo did. They started fighting again. Gotenks this time was winning. He had his chance to do the final blow but then he turned into regular Gotenks. Then their fusion was over. Luckily gohan finally finished powering up and headed for earth. He arrived and fought Boo. He was clearly winning when Boo self-destructed. Everything was calm for about an hour. During which time they caught up to Dende and Mr. Satan. Dende has survived because Mr. Popo pushed him off the Tower when Boo was turning everyone to chocolate. After an hour, Boo appears and tells the kids that he wants to fight Gotenks. So, they fuse again and turn Super Saiyan 3. Boo planned to absorb both Gotenks and Piccolo. He succeeded and became much more powerful than Gohan. Goku realizes that he must help but he's dead. The 15th Generation Kaioshin offers his life to Goku. Goku accepts and exchanges lives with him. The 15th Generation Kaioshin then tells them of the power of the potaru. He says that they can also use this to fuse. So Goku takes them and is teleported to where Gohan is. But before he can fuse with Gohan, Gohan gets absorbed by Boo. Goku has no else to fuse with except Mr. Satan and Dende. He decides on Mr. Satan but then he feels Vegeta's ki. He teleports to Vegeta. Turns out that Vegeta was sent to help Goku by Daio-sama. Vegeta was a little reluctant at first but he finally gave in. They both fused and created the strongest character in the series, Vegeto. The name is becuase Goku and Vegeta fused. They are obviously much more powerful than Boo. Boo though manages to absorb Vegeto. Then Goku and Vegeta separate inside Boo's body. They explore around and fight some internal defenses. Soon they discover Gohan and the others. As they free them Boo reverts back to his form before he absorbed them. Then they free Fat Boo which causes Boo to transform into his true form. Luckily, they find an exit and make it out. Boo now transformed into his true form, sends a fireball to destroy the earth. Goku saves Mr. Satan and Dende but there was no time to save the others. Earth is destroyed and Goku is teleported to Kaioshinkai by Kibit/Kaioshin. Then Boo destroys planet after planet in an attempt to find Goku and Vegeta. Boo finds his way to where Kaio-sama and the others were training. The other dead warriors there were no match for Boo. Goku and Vegeta decided to draw Boo away from that place by letting him know where they were by their raising their power levels. Boo senses it and teleports there. Goku and Vegeta don't want to fuse this time but just want to fight one at a time. Goku goes first while Vegeta watches. Kaioshin teleports everyone else except Mr. Satan to another planet. The fight continues with Goku turning Super Saiyan 3. Even then he still can't win. Vegeta comes up with an idea to make a Genki Dama(Spirit Bomb). He tells Dende to go to Namek and use the Dragon Balls there to resurrect everyone. Dende does and then Vegeta tells everyone on earth to lend their power to Goku. Only some of them do but then Mr. Satan speaks and tells them to do so. They obey Mr. Satan and lead their power to Goku. What results is a huge Genki Dama that ultimately kills Boo. Peace is restored at last. Goku uses the Dragon Balls to reincarnate the evil Boo into a child so that he can fight him again. So a few years later, Gohan and Videl got married and had a daughter Pan, Vegeta also had a daughter. Goten and Trunks where now teens. They got ready for another Martial Arts Tournament. In this tournament Goku found some competition in Uubu(reincarnated Boo), who was very powerful. He befriends Uubu and says that he will train him. Then they both fly off with Uubu riding Goku. And thus ends the Dragon Ball Z Saga.
